Hey look, it's Whitey! She's the most skittish of our hens, so it was nice that I got this shot of her as I scattered a little cracked corn.

This carrion fly sits in the disc of the Cosmos, probably soaking up a little sun after sipping some nectar. The other carrion flies can have their rotting corpses and piles of shit, I'll enjoy this pretty flower.

Down on the stem of another Cosmos, the aphids have no idea what's coming: an aphid killer slowly works it's way up, gobbling up the succulent prey. When the aphid killer grows up, it will be a small hover fly.
