Urban roadkill

We were on Washington street on the Boston/Dedham line, on our way to deliver Albee to his new family. I noticed an uncommonly large roadkill slumped against the road divider. As I passed it I eliminated choices--raccoon? nope.



I rapidly groped my camera from my pocket and shot into my driver's side mirror.


It turned out to be a pretty big coyote.

Roadkill always makes me cry. Not sure why. But wow, this guy didn't stand a chance, too densely populated with traffic. Wonder how s/he got there.

Sad coyote! Should have looked both ways. It *is* a big one. It looks more like an ROUS...

The District's been having a problem with coyotes in a couple of the urban parks - the foxes follow the rabbits, and the coyotes follow the deer, and several parks that are along creeks and rivers but also right next to roads have had excess deer and rabbits for a couple years now...

Wow, nice drive-by shooting! I want that skull for my skull collection! If that were me, I would have pulled over and dragged it off the road to relieve it of its head.
