The theme of New England this week is snow. There's some on the ground, a little in the sky, and a lot in people's anxieties. Just before the snow came (December first), I found a sudden burst of fungal activity.

These little discs (about 1mm diameter average) are fresh fruiting bodies of (I think) Bisporella citrina.

These are about 1-3 mm tall. My good field guides are (I hope) at work, so I don't have the name handy.

Tiny warts help identify this as warty black jelly (If I had the right field guide around, I'd know its real name.)

The sapling stump is about 2.5 cm diameter in these. I'm not sure if my field guides would help here. I'd call it "pink parchment," but it may not be that easy to identify.
