cool! this was entirely unnecessary for me to know, just random curiosity popped into my head. In a public practice, we file them by owners last name, then pet name... it suddenly occurred to me that zoo critters wouldnt have last names!
When I was at the aquarium, our stranding department animals all had their own number (we werent allowed to name them), which we used for filing, but I realized I never did ask how they filed the films for the collection animals...
