Sunday was sunny and warm! We stayed in the yard most of the day, doing yardwork (Alexis) and loafing about (me).

I haven't put the hard work into identifying this inchworm, but I'm gonna go ahead and say it's a winter moth larva. (so far my facebook entofriends agree)

I sorely wish this was in better focus, but I'll take it for now. This beautiful little Phiddipus audax (my favorite spider species) has prey in its jaws. I can't prove it but close examination suggests that the jumper is feeding on a yellow sac spider. That's a victory, no matter how you look at it.

There are only a few butterflies active so far this year, but one of them was this spectacular blue-winged Maggie.
