My cousin and his wife raised wolves for several years in Lexington, Kentucky. I actually got to play with a hybrid that happened to be tame enough to keep in the house. Very, VERY powerful animals. They're really awesome (bible awesome, not ninja turtles awesome) creatures in general. Even in captivity, the pack instincts were very obvious. My cousin's wife said that they're very loving, even to the Omega of the group. She noted that when the omega died, even though they always beat up on it, they would look sad and mourning (typically tail between the legs) when they got near the area that he died, and that the day he died, they howled all night and none of them would leave the body until she came out to take it away. :\
