We had one of these in our harour (and up into the river) for a couple weeks back in, I think, 1996. Was interesting. It eventually just wantered off after sticking around.
Are you in Cape Breton? My husband and I condsidered moving there but chose to get some land near Wolfville, in the Annapolis Valley. Unfortunately, we discovered that getting into Canada as a landed immegrant is harder than we thought. But maybe someday...
I'm in the Sydney area, yeah. It's a nice enough area, though, Halifax is a bit nicer. Being in Wolfville, Halifax would be in easy reach, and it's not a bad place on its own.
I know what you're going through with the immigration stuff. My wife's Texan and has been living here for 4 years now... immigration is still in progress.
This is interesting to me, as my wife is Canadian (though she's lived in the States since she was 12). I often wonder what our options might be--how easy it would be for either of us to take on the citizenship of the other, and what our obstacles might be if we wanted to move to a (different, third) country sometime in the future.
Well, in terms of Americans coming here, you still have to go through the entire process (which costs about $2000 and takes a min. of 16 months), you're just almost gauranteed to be approved in the end with the marraige. Mind you, we were married here, not in the States, and that may make a slight difference.
