3:00 snapshot #1217, 1218, 1219

Oh hey look we have a new foster dog. This is Colin (although I like to call him Coen, or peanut). Colin is an amazingly confident little dog, seemingly afraid of nothing. He likes other dogs, and is selective with his affection toward humans. He's never shown aggression toward or fear of a human, but he doesn't run up to people and love all over them the way some puppies do. He came to us with an upper respiratory illness (now resolved) and some scars on his chest. He was found on the street, and I imagine he had a pretty awful life up until he entered the shelter system. He hasn't had any accidents in the house, and he's pretty much crate trained already. He usually sleeps through the night, though last night he got up at 4 A.M. all restless, but I took him out to pee and he came back in and zonked out. He's the only puppy on the PittieLove website at the moment, so we expect he'll be adopted quickly.

The Bitter Buddha

If you like stand-up comedy you should know who Eddie Pepitone is.
There's a documentary about him called The Bitter Buddha which is currently playing at selected theaters and is also available on Amazon and iTunes for instant download. Eddie's standup is completely original, amazingly dynamic and athletic, and funny as hell. I saw him perform at the ImprovBoston last Monday. Even though I'd heard him on podcasts (he's the standard closer for live WTF shows) and seen his routines on YouTube, I wasn't prepared for how engaging he is as a live performer. He's often described as "a comedian's comedian" and has been on the edge of superstardom for decades. It must be frustrating for him to see other big yelling comics get more famous than him and then flame out. He's very different from people he might be compared to like Sam Kinison or Lewis Black, in that he has a vulnerability and authenticity behind the funny rants; he is insecure and self-searching even as he rails against the corporate machine.

His tweets are excellent. Recent example "Etiquette: When destroying your life and the lives of others ALWAYS tip 20%." He stars in the youtube single panel comic "Puddin.'"

Recently he married a good friend of mine from high school, and it's nice to be acquainted with him.

Inspiring animals, domestic and wild.

Sometimes the dogs will surprise us. Charlie tolerates the puppy but doesn't really like him all that much. We let Charlie into the kitchen (normally puppy-only territory during fostering) and he laid in the puppy's bed. The puppy was not deterred by the bed being full of Charlie, and curled up next to him.
