Walking the drains

I used my workout app to track my pest control duty at Stone Zoo the other day. I was treating the catch basins--the parts of the storm drains that hold water--with mosquito larvacide. I believe I posted about this a few years and someone, probably calypso72 because she's very smart, suggested I use GPS technology to keep track of all of them. At the time, the technology or perhaps my faith in it, was lacking. Now I think it is possible to make a storm drain map of both zoos using this technology.

Be careful with those field guides, mushrooms are not static. They change over time and with weather conditions.

I took this picture to show the manager of the zoo gift shop what new plushy she should order.

Number 23 baby

I went over my chemical use records and ascertained that this was the 23rd wasp nest I'd destroyed using insecticide. This was another bald faced hornet nest, right next to a statue of a gorilla that kids love to climb all over.

One of my newest pals at work has a great sense of humor. She came by my office when I was out, noticed my unattended camera and left me this.

One of my coworkers and his Zoo Teen in the Tropical Forest. Zoo Teens are teenagers who live in Boston who apply to work at the zoo for the summer, and are assigned to work in specific areas. Tom, on the right, is the Tropical Forest facilities technician.
