280 days of Urbpandemonium #38

I opened a door to an office--it was a small building and the office opened directly to the outdoors, where I was. I poked my head in and interrupted a conversation between 2 of my coworkers to tell them about my observations regarding carpenter bees and paper wasps around their building. As I was exlaining that these scary insects weren't really anything to worry about I became distracted by this beautiful little jumping spider Platycryptus undatus. It was on the open door and jumped to the sidewalk. I dropped to the ground on my hands and knees to photograph it, cementing my reputation at work as the weird bug guy.

Christ Died for Our Dunkin Donuts

A couple of older ladies stopped me in the park (i was taking the puppy to the softball game) to talk to me about their business selling instant coffee as part of some kind of pyramid scheme, and also Jesus. It was a very disorganized approach, but the ladies were lovely and polite so I talked with them for a while. They were impressed when I recognized Ganoderma lucidum (Reishi mushroom) on the label of the coffee mix. I was happy to take some samples from them and give them my email address in case they wanted to +/- get me involved in their coffee scheme/save my immortal soul.


The coffee mix is almost unbearably sweet, but would make a nice starter for ice coffee, or even homemade coffee ice cream. Ganoderma lucidum mushroom is the last ingredient listed on the package, right after “coffee.”
