Does anyone here have, or know anything about, computer microscopes? In my fantasies, they work more or less like a digital camera, and you can capture images and put them easily into your graphics program (photoshop, for example).

Oh, also, in my fantasy, it's compatible with a Mac, and costs under 200 dollars.

My fantasies are very different from yours.

Oh, sorry, I don't have any helpful information about computer microscopes.

Have the best

My non-geeky fantasies are friends-only posts. (assuming I have any)

Weird! Why does it look like a hair dryer?

Think of the lichen pics!

We'll finally photograph our own tardigrades!

Tardigrade icons!

I don't know! I guess because it's handheld and that's the most obvious shape for hand-held things? The 'eye' part has LEDs for lighting your subject.

WHEEEEEEEEE!!!

Is this where our tax return money will go?

That rules. Once a week or so I get a dose of "birth control" at work, in the form of screaming children. Next week I should get it every day (school vacation week).

oh god

I have an Intel Play QX3 microscope. I got it for nearly free at a rummage sale. The software for it is free on the internet. There is also free software for mac ( http://www.macobserver.com/article/2002/12/06.7.shtml). It is addictive. I know the fine structure of all my pets fibers now.

I made an album of lots of crazy stuff. I brought some slime molds home with me and took some photos. My album is on Ofoto. If you are curious as to the quality, I can email you the link.
