I want to do carp for the 365 project sometime soon, but while they're conspicuous in life, they are hard to photograph. I may have to be patient and wait until they are more active, in large numbers.

Maybe once there is a canopy over the water it will make it easier to get a picture without the reflection distorting it.

Ah! good thought. I like the reflection of the hospital building, but it is hard to see the fish.

you could pick up a polarizing filter to put in front of your lens to get a better shot through the water... they're generally useful photography aides as well.

Another good thought. I actually used my sunglasses in front of the lens on the second photio.

Do you have crappy too? Or maybe they're called something else. My mom called them sunfish when we used to fish for them.
I'll go google!

Are those really carp, or just very huge leeches? Just bein' a spaz! Carp would be cool for the 365! I was diggin' on the louse spider the other day... that S.O.B. would freak me out!

Fish are hard to photo.
But chumming* gives some interesting action shots.

I must have taken hundreds of shots of my little fantailed carp in his whiskey keg pond to get the one in my icon.

Fish are tricky to photograph. Birds are easier.

Get a disposable waterproof camera and attempt submerged photos. Bluegill are curious enough to approach novel objects even without bait.
