Mt. Auburn Cemetery predates Olmsted by just a few decades, but according to their website, the cemetery inspired the concept of public parks and botanical gardens. Presumably Olmsted visited and enjoyed Mt. Auburn.

That first link you sent me - I'm assuming by accident - was, uh, interesting. The second one I couldn't open. But thanks for the effort. Interesting to know. Perhaps I'll look up more info on the subject.
