An amusing aside: Washingston State's Department of Fish and Wildlife has recently begun a campaign to preserve natural floodplains and restore others. There are some really amusing posters with catchphrases like, "Floodplains are for floods," "floodplains are for the birds," etc.

Absolutely gorgeous scene... if destructive and dangerous :)

Is the tree cherry or apple?

It's a pink flowering dogwood.

On the business side of the part of Riverway that can take you down to Best Buy... are those Dogwood trees? Do they come in pink?

Yeah, that's a pink flowering dogwood, on the Brookline side, just before the Longwood ave bridge (if you are headed toward Best Buy). Have you see the guy that sings Michael Jackson songs under there?

Nope, haven't come across him yet. Maybe it's just a good singing spot... inspired us to sing "The Drunken Scotsman" on the way home... that and a few sidewalk finds make us fairly amusing to passerbys.
