Just a quick note from the road: We're in Forks, Washington, about to go to the Hoh Rainforest. I don't know why there's free wireless outside the visitor's center, but I'm not arguing. We're lucky to be here, considering that we basically snuck on a sold-out ferry, on account of it being a major holiday weekend in British Columbia. It meant waking up at 4 A.M., but we're here and happy about it. A little while ago we passed through the towns of Sappho and Beaver, a little disappointed we coudn't find souvenir tshirts emblazoned with the towns' names. Incredibly beautiful country out here, and after seeing a little bit of the rainforest on Vancouver Island, I can't wait to see more here. 365 Urban Species will resume in a day or so, with some wonderful Pacific species! Talk to you soon,

Date: 2006-08-07 08:07 pm (UTC)I've never been there, but saw an ad for the place in a magazine, and thought it was so gorgeous, I tore it out and taped it to my wall, for when I'm really jonesing for some green, some trees, and moisture. I've wanted to go there ever since. I look at that photo ad at least three times a day.
And now you're there! Love it for me, will ya?

Date: 2006-08-08 09:58 pm (UTC)it was pretty much like growing up in every other small town in the world, only with more grunge and druggies. most kids move after they graduate, but it's not so bad. juneau is pretty, but i don't like it here. there's nothing to do, nowhere to shop unless you're a tourist, and it's sssoooo expensive. it's nice to visit. lemme know if you come up and i'll give you a discount on a tracy arm tour http://www.adventureboundalaska.com

Date: 2006-08-10 06:56 pm (UTC)never did i imagine you would mention the Hoh rainforest or Forks.
My mother, ex boyfriend, and i were driving to the Hoh from Seattle and our car broke down in forks. We had to stay in a motel there and it was hilarious. We rented a car and went to the hoh rainforest eventually but it was such a chore.
this brought back such memories....
thank you.
