A marmot is a large, ground-dwelling squirrel. There are a few different species, all occurring in the northern hemisphere. The one in my icon is the northeastern marmot, usually called a woodchuck or groundhog. (you know, groundhog day!)
Ah! I can go visit our Official Groundhog at the local zoo! (I can't remember his name - he competes with Punxatawney Phil for Groundhog Day honors - maybe it's Pete? Maybe I should go and introduce myself ...)
