Since my last set of vacation pictures (from the Pacific northwest), we got a new computer, with a new version of iPhoto, which organized our pictures in a brand new way that we had to learn, and then we went on another trip. I've got two more day's worth of pictures for you! First, Aberdeen Washington:

Dauca carota, with pink flowers--never seen that before.

A linear park in Aberdeen runs along a river, and behind several businesses. This row of Populus trees is behind a supermarket. I was amazed, despite the artificiality of the planting, suggesting an urban environment, the thick growth of lichen, which tends to grow only sparsely in cities.

A monument to the loggers, whose industry (and sacrifice, as the memorial emphasizes) created the city.

Back at the hotel, a white-crowned sparrow (I think) perched in a western redcedar.

I have to admit, I've just given over to using iPhoto as the direct interface for dealing with my photos. I don't deal with the folder structure at all anymore. I've found creative ways to get photos out (drag and dropping straight iPhoto to folders creates copies, for example) when I need to make change to them, etc.

I definitely understand the annoyance, though. Although I think that it's being done that way to accomodate for larger and larger photo libraries.

There does seem to be a choice of whether or not to copy files to the "iPhoto Library Folder" in prefences, but I'll be honest, I'm not 100% sure on what would happen if you did turn that off. :)
