3:00 snapshot, #3

I was putting this hawk back in her cage when my alarm went off. She's the same hawk that's in my icon.

She's a great bird to work with, too!

I have only handled one red-tail. Of the birds I worked with at the Virginia Living Museum, the crow and the barn owl were the most challenging. The crow would take every opportunity to peck you. I got a really nice bruise from him one summer even though I was wearing a leather sleeve. The barn owl just spooked easily and was kind of flighty. I loved her despite that. A close third would be the kestrels. They were a small bird with a big attitude.

His 3:00 alarm that tells him it's time to take a snap shot.
