Postprandial walk in the Fenway

After having lunch together, [livejournal.com profile] rockbalancer and I walked around in the Fens.

The phragmites reeds there are huge, and though invasive, quite beautiful.

The reed growth is so tall and dense, that people walking in the fens have created pathways that are like corridors. It's legendary that men meet one another in the reeds for anonymous trysts.

This little clearing (completely invisible from the actual park paths) with its token attempt at domestic comfort, reminded me of the clearing in Olmsted park at the end of this post.
