The Drumlin
Feb. 25th, 2007 09:44 am
The place I work is named after a Drumlin, a rounded hill left by the glaciers. These are some pictures of and from that hill.

This rock--a glacial erratic--prevents the shrub from being mowed down.

Birders often come to the drumlin during fall migration and other times, to see hawks soar by.

Surprisingly, the drumlin is one of the highest elevations in our area--eastern Massachusetts being a pretty low place. To the west we can see the Worcester hills. This mountain is either Modadnock or Wachusett.

except those tungsten tipped (leki type) hiking poles. hates them. they chip and scar the rock. blah. dumb peoples.
i call it leki-pox :)
also notable: one of the few NH mountains that does NOT allow dogs on the trails. the ranger on top gets kinda cranky about it.
