I have much to say about the Terry Schiavo debacle, but I'm still not able to calmly discuss it. Suffice it to say, I think everyone (even, in fact, especially, young healthy people) should come up with a plan for dealing with extreme disability and death, and commit it to a legal document.

Much thanks to [livejournal.com profile] miz_geek for this link:

You should be allowed to die in the way that you want to.

I think it's more a matter of making sure someone could find it if the situation came up. So, if someone you trust (or whoever it is that would be called in an emergency) has a copy, you'd probably be ok. And I think the two witnesses are enough - you don't reallly need a notary. But I'm sure it couldn't hurt.

Philip, the lawyer who sent this out would be happy it's actually of use to someone.

Well, since my sister is a notary and better not charge us for her notarization, it's no skin off our noses :)

Please thank Philip for me!
