Disgusting substance of the day: turkey egg canal fluid.
Tito laid her first intact today, and when I picked it up it was still hot (not warm, but close to bird body temp--about 105 f) and coated with a thin layer of clear goo. I wasn't aware of this when I picked the egg up, so it was a bit of a shock.

The male Andean Condor at Franklin is named Tito, too! :)

You need to come to Stone this summer and see the free-flight bird of prey show. It's awesome! And not all birds of prey - the have some parrots. The best is when the king vulture flies over your head, onto the stage. :)

I'm surprised how attached to this bird I've become. Mostly its because she was raised without any other turkeys around, and is thoroughly imprinted on us. I'd like to read stories about Butterball!
