Store dogs

I'm a full week and a day behind with my pictures! These are from last Monday. I was visiting Ritual Arts, where my friend Toni and her many pets are. She had a new dog, Chupacabra:

This is Chupa and Toni's main dog, Muerte. Muerte is very smart and loving (and showing his age, alas).

I"m embarrassed to say that I forgot the name of the new store cat (I think there are two store cats now) and the name of Toni's employee's dog. They were cuddled up on a shelf together.

Not pictured: many birds, including a Macaw bigger than all the dogs.

chupacabra is one of my favorite folk tales. very appropriate to name a little chihuahua after a goat-sucking mythological beast ;-)

i love chihuahuas, too, except for the nervous bladder.

Next time take pictures of the birds too! :)

What type of Macaw does she have? (Or what color?)

okay!

I forget what kind of macaw admiral is--she's some combination of blue, yellow, and/or red, but i know that doesn't help much.

Not that it matters, but:

If she's blue all over with a yellow chest/belly, she's a Blue and Gold macaw.

If she's red all over except on her wings, she's probably either a Greenwing or a Scarlet.

Does she just hang out in the store, or is she in a cage?

I'd love to see the other birds, too!

I think she's a Blue and Gold, but I seem to have a hole in my memory. She hangs out on a huge open platform/perch thing in the back room, like a scaled-up canary cage with no bars.

She's also got an African gray (and her employee has one, too, and they hang out together) and a pair of budgies.

Cool! We parrot people are everywhere. :)

Awwww. Naming your dogs "Death" and "Goat Sucker".

I LOL'ed.

Muerte's full name is "El puerco de la muerte"! even better.

I LOVE store dogs (or cats). A lot of stores in Salem have them - there is this place in Museum Place Mall that does that vintage-portrait photo thing. Their store dog is awesome!! I forget what kind of dog he is - big black one with curly fur.

Anyway, we were at the store next door (Turtle Alley, where you'll find the yummiest turles ever) and stopped in to visit the dog. I bent down to pat him, and my purse kept falling down, so I put it on the ground. He stole it and wouldn't give it back - everytime I tried to take it, he backed up, wagging his tail. it was absolutely adorable!!

I think the newest kitty (of 3) is named Lovebomb.
