Cute and fun pictures from work

I have a backlog of cute and fun pictures from this past week at work! In fact, now that I look at them, they are from the week previous to last--what's my problem? No matter, you just want to see the cute.

Tito has been so much more mobile in the past few weeks than in the preceding months. I was sure she was going to have to be euthanized by now, but she's doing well. She can't change direction very well, but she walks all over the place. The other day she got herself under the barrier fence by a busy road and scared the hell out of me.

Common blue violet. One of those weeds that no one minds.

Brown cup fungus, Peziza sp. Tons of these have come up around the cement in the bird hill cages. After the thunderstorms they swelled up to teacup size. I'm sure that we created the conditions favorable to them somehow; we moved a lot of soil around, created areas where the cement traps moisture and blocks light. Brown cup fungi seem to be pretty opportunistic, with at least one species (P. domiciliana) known for growing inside houses--on damp basement floors and even bath mats.

Visitors enjoying the barred owl exhibit. It occurred to me that I don't have very many photos of the exhibits serving their purpose, you know, exhibiting animals to the public.

Gimme! Everybody loves it when animals use their little hands. ("must touch shiny!")

Great pictures! Does Tito have arthritis? Or any of those other conditions of old age that make cold weather tough? Maybe you can send her to Florida next winter.

Yes, she has arthritis (we know because her mobility improved when she was on Rimadyl). She's on arthroplex now. If she gets to go to Florida for the winter, I do too.

See, now I'm picturing a road-trip/buddy movie about you and Tito driving to Florida and having wacky adventures, but ultimately learning some sort of valuable lesson.

Well if Tito every takes a Florida vacation, bring her over and we'll give her the grand tour!
PS - Please bring the woodchuck too - he's hopelessly cute!

In that second picture (the close-up) Tito looks like she's trying to get her crystal shard back from the gelflings.

I know I love when animals use their little hands. It really does like he(she?) is saying "must touch shiny!"

Yay for elderly animals. Tito (Tita?), you go, girl.

Awww what cool pics...love the last one! :)
I hope to get the job I am going for at the nature center; it is similar to where you work! We could be work twins! :)
