Honolulu, Hawaii.

Best moment of the day: cuddling with Alexis and the dogs, even though we were crying. That was over 20 hours ago and I'm still awake. I'm enjoying Hawaii, also. :)

My first view of Honolulu, from the plane.

Dad goes native, on the hotel ledge.

The view off the other side.

Your choice.

Dad samples the local delicacy.

And then plunges into Waikiki beach.

Banyan trees line some of the sidewalks.

In the malls they offer "pick your own pearls" complete with live oysters.

A little girl claps her hands to attract the carp.

On this day in 365 urban species: European green crab.

I'm happy for you that you are there. It's such a perfect tourist place; all the natural beauty, delicious climate and cool topography of a third world paradise with relatively few of the inconveniences. Except for the centipedes which I know are an added attraction for you (;D). The one in the picture is from Oahu. The come out of the lava formations at sundown, as well as other places. If you want to go to a quieter beach, there's a place called Waimanalo not too far from Honolulu, like about a half hour drive, at least at certain times of the day. I hope you and your dad have a spectacular time. I just remembered another cool place we went but I don't remember exactly where it is. It's a big public hot springs swimming pool and they mix the hot water with ocean water so it's a perfect temperature. It's in a little local park. Someone will know about it, if you want to go. Have fun.

Your dad's READY! for Hawaii.. how cute!

Be sure and look in the ocean, right off the crowded beach.. you can actually see turtles pretty close by. They're the cutest things.

Thank you thank you!
And thanks for the kind words. I'll be posting pics every day that I can--we seem to have wifi at both places we're staying. There might be a day I miss when we are on the way back--we'll travel all day, and lose 6 hours to time zone change.

Oh wow. I went to Hawaii in 1992 when I was 10, and I still remember all of it. Those pictures take me back!
