Looks like you were backing away and tripped when the camera went off. 8-D One of our three "female" ostriches is starting to grow black feathers and attack keepers.
I was trying to get around the "no pictures with cage bars in them" rule by shooting through the holding pen fence, so I got a full body shot minus the legs. Then I cropped just his head, and I liked the halo of down that happened. He seems like a tough customer--I'd back away if not for the fence!
Time to separate your formerly female ostrich! I hope you named him "pat" or "chris!"
As far as I know, they don't have names. The breeder that traded the three for our lone male (Bill Debille) said if she really does turn into a male he'll gladly switch (him) for another female. He's very pleased with the male. He belongs to a subspecies of bigger birds, bigger than his other ostriches. He also claims Bill is very happy with his flock of females and defends them vigorously.
