I feel bad for the WBUR announcer that I heard on the radio saying "tomorrow's snow will not accumulate," every 10 minutes on the 11 (or whatever). That lie must have been ringing in his ears as he scraped the ice off his car this morning, and as he dug his car out of the snow this afternoon, and as he scraped the boot-packed powder off his sidewalk. "I can't believe I said that the snow wouldn't accumulate 47 times yesterday," he thought to himself. At least he could blame Accuweather, or whoever supplies the official information, and at least every forecaster in the city was uniformly wrong.

You know who I don't feel bad for? This jackass. It's people like him that make walking the dogs blogably infuriating, and his kind of behavior even gets people killed.

Listening to WTKK, they were allover both of those stories, in teh exact same wya you just presented them. If people like that ass shovelled there sidewalks, people wouldn't have to walk in the street and get hit by plows. Simple case logic.

"Sunday night, Hoare had just left Burger King, where she finished her shift at 10 p.m., and started the 3.2-mile walk to her apartment on Bradford Street in Lawrence." And then she gets hit and killed by a snowplow. Now that fucking sucks!

apparently in Waltham? the mail has not been delivered for *3* days because it's too dangerous to walk/drive the streets, sidewalks, and driveways for the post people, so they're not doing it. message to citizens: shovel and you'll get your mail.

Poor women, both of them.

Is that councilman really saying blacks are too lazy to shovel snow? Incredible. I sincerely hope he meant blacks pay people to shovel their walks--and finds someone to pay, pronto.

Every snowy place I lived, you could get a hefty fine for having an unshoveled walk, even if it fell while you were at work. Until Duluth, MN, oddly enough. New York City fines people for not shoveling.

Sent an email to The Jackass. Doubt it will change anything, but hopefully his office will notice:

Mr Turner,
I have just read an article detailing your refusal to shovel your walkway and the sidewalk there. I don't know about the laws where you are, but where I come from, if a person falls on my slippery sidewalk, pathway of driveway, I can be sued for damages. Perhaps, being a government employee, you are exempt from such pesky things. If that's the case, what is an elderly person to do? What is a mother with her baby in a stroller to do? What are children walking to school to do? Walk on the street where there are cars and snowplows - that IS their territory. As a government representative, you are supposed to be an example of responsibility and decency. You have shown neither. You should be ashamed, but I doubt it will happen, you'd need a conscience for that.
