outrage fatigue
Dec. 21st, 2007 06:05 amThings I like about xmas:
frosted cookies
fun stuff people make with snow (igloos, forts, mazes, snowdragons, etc.)
booze-fueled and/or scantily-clad santa-themed events
families checking in with one another
day off from work (this year--probably not next year now that they know I'm a Scrinch and a Grooge)
inexpensive gift boxes of baileys and various whiskeys
it all comes to a shuddering halt after tuesday (it will be safe to shop and listen to the radio)
On this day in 365 Urban Species: Rocky Mountain Juniper.
Happy Winter Solstice.

Date: 2007-12-21 12:36 pm (UTC)the solstice is so late in the evening this year (1:08 EST tonight) that it'll be the first winter solstice in a while that i wasn't up to spend a few minutes quietly observing as it passes.
Good God, man! Stay strong!

~"A Charlie Brown Christmas" on tv
~making garlands of popcorn and cranberries and stuff (haven't done that in AGES - must do again)
~sending out cards (even though I bitch about it every year)
~receiving cards from friends and family
~snow
~bare trees against overcast skies
~certain Christmas carols, sung by a proper choir (not the f-ing Chipmunks or Celine Dion or Toby Keith)
~the look on our son's face Christmas morning
