I've mentioned Jim and shown one picture of him sleeping, but I haven't talked about him much. He's a rescued puppy (8 or 10 weeks? I can't seem to remember) that is living with us getting house trained and socialized with our dogs and will eventually belong to Alex, our good friend and dogsitter. The idea is that she will be able to bring Jim with her when she dogsits. She's also getting a crash-course in dog training from Alexis, and is taking Jim to various different places to socialize him (I think this is also forcing Alex, who is rather shy, to get some socialization training as well) so that he'll be people-friendly to people of all types.

He is a Boston terrier, but I don't like to use that term for the breed. Usually I call them "Bostons," which isn't confusing if people know you are talking about a dog. The breed is derived from "bull-and-terrier" stock during the great "breeding dogs to kill one another" experiment that resulted in the American pit bull terrier and the English bull terrier. It turned out that Bostons were crap at fighting, but were intelligent, social, and (to people who like flat-faced bulldogs) attractive, and so the breed was developed as a lap dog. Jim is in my lap at this moment. It's the first breed developed in the US and the state dog breed of Massachusetts. Why was Jim's mom tossed out the window of a moving car between Alamogordo and El Paso? (see, you should have read the link under 'rescue' above) Well, there are idiots everywhere. My dad says "Boston bull terrier," which is more accurate, but I think that would confuse people.

Charlie likes Jim and actively solicits playtime with him (but he also likes Jim's delightful, undestroyed toys) but Maggie is very nervous of the little alien. I think will lots more supervised play time she'll get over it. Jim likes to jump up and bite Charlie's face as a game and Charlie tolerates it. Maggie, not so much.

Here's a picture of Jim and his sister Emily that Alexis took when she went out to pick him up.

People who throw animals out of moving vehicles need to thrown out of one themselves!

I'll never understand why people do that to animals. It's disgusting and the people who do it should be thrown out of a moving vehicle.

I got my latest kitten because somebody left her and her three siblings sealed in a box, on the doorstep of a vets office when they were three weeks old.

Jim is absolutely adorable, He looks like a cuddler, and how can you resist those puppy dog eyes. :)

i'm glad jim found you all, and found his way into that rescue in the first place. there are packs of stray dogs along the border, many of them with bullet scars and whip scars all along their backs and legs. :-(

very cute pup. i didn't know they were bred for fighting.

I don't consider that one of the cutest breeds, but the photo with the tongue hanging out just kills me. :)

Aaaw! Thanks for posting, so damn cute.

I'll consider this the Christmas present from the Internet to me. But what should I give back to it?

So where is Jim's sis now? And who had these pups when Alexis went to get them?
It's disgusting how people will treat animals so horrible like that. That kind of stuff made me want to get into the career I am in now...I want to stop those people and make the world a better place for animals...
That's really cool you are taking him in like this...
I didn't realize Alexis was a dog trainer, or is she just very knowledgeable about it?
Anyway, yea for a new pup! :)

Jim's sis is with an lj friend of Alexis' and that's who had Jim, too. Jim's sis (Emily) is going to be someone else's dog (lj friend of a friend).

Alexis is very knowledgeable. She'd like to do more dog training, I think.

Well that's good they will both have nice homes...:)
I know she is knowledgeable of dog training, I was just wondering if she went to school or anything, like I did...
I've read what she's done, she has mad skills...;)
