Why did I wake up in the middle of the night with the phrase "vituperative recriminations" in my head?

That happens to me as well. Often it will be a chorus line of a song; usually one I haven't heard in a while. I guess our brains have to do something to keep occupied while we rest.

I had to look up "vituperative". Very impressive word combo your brain dragged out. I woke up one morning with the phrase "It has become sere" in my head and had to look up "sere". Turns out my subconscious has a bigger vocabulary than my conscious and also was completely right.
