urbpan: (All Suffering SOON TO END!)
[personal profile] urbpan
This morning I noticed that it was still dark when I left for work. It was only dark at night in Antigua. I also noticed that it was really hard to cram my feet into my boots--did they shrink? did my feet expand in the tropical warmth and humidity? Or does wearing boots just suck? Lastly, I noticed that it's much harder for me to breathe here: only one nostril works at a time, and my nose is full of delightful chunks. (Refer to [livejournal.com profile] cottonmanifesto's post from today for further complaints.)

boots suck. but your feet do swell after traveling by airplane so it could be that too.

i hate the nostril problem, makes it really hard to wear my CPAP mask, and just breathe in general. do nasal sprays work for you? i'm afraid i'm going to have to get over my distaste for them because sudafed no longer helps me.

my feet squeezed into my boots just fine. i'm pretty sure the swelling goes down overnight.

Yea it's dark everyday I go to work...very sad...at least it isn't dark when I get home or I would be suicidal...:P
Maybe your feet DID expand!!! OMG crazy...I like my boots, what kind do you have? I have law enforcement service boots, they are the comfy...:)
That sucks it's hard to breathe. I would feel bad but you were just in a tropical paradise and I find it hard to sympathize, hahahahah...;)

I have weird looking Doc Marten steel toe hiking boots that I bought because I walk funny (I overpronate). They're pretty comfortable, but heavy. I need "motion control" shoes.

yeah, I don't expect people to feel bad for me! :P

Oh I see...that sounds kind of sucky, you can't really help it...:P
Heavy shoes to me are uncomfortable. I had steel toed boots when I worked at Kragen because I dealt with heavy crap like batteries and car parts...
But now since I do a lot of running, we have to have water proof lighter boots, service boots...
What are "motion control" shoes?
HAHAHA...;)

What's the opposite of overpronating? (Antinating?) I dunno about walking, but when I stand it tends to be with the right foot rolled outwards so I'm not standing flat. Apparently I've done this forever, but I've only noticed in the last few months.

"delightful chunks"

Welcome back!

Have you tried a neti pot? People swear by them!

I think it's cool you did that volunteer work at the animal shelter in Antigua. (Wish I could adopt that goat, and one of the donkeys!)

you know, my old yoga teacher recommended that (snorting salt water) but she also recommended celibacy, so I took her advice only carefully. It strikes me as the same kind of thing as ear candling; then again, I spent much of last week with salt water up my nose, so maybe there's something to it.

It's the dryness and the horrible shocks I get whenever I touch ANYTHING that is really pissing me off. And I'm kind of freaked out about how glad I was to see that it was still sort of daylight out at 5 o'clock this evening.
