Does anyone know anything about Round Rock Texas? (Any personal experiences, I mean; I read the wikipedia page.) I was just looking at a map of Austin and saw it up there and wondered what it was like.
It is a town with an interstate and an elevated toll road through the heart of it. The residential areas are new, cookie-cutter houses. There is a Hummer dealership, an Ikea, an outlet mall, a Denny's, a McDonald's, a Wal-Mart, a Home Depot, and a Volkswagen dealership. They have a bat bridge like the Congress street bat bridge in downtown Austin, but it goes over some train tracks and it is by some really ghetto houses and an industrial area. There is a gravel area by the railroad that you could park to watch the bats but I've never seen anyone except people with stalled vehicles stop there. The people in Austin consider Round Rock to be where all the Dallas transplants live. I would say San Marcos is 10 times better than Round Rock. Still, if you are interested in Round Rock, I can take pictures of the residential areas. It is part of my inspection territory.
I'd rather live in Pflugerville than Round Rock. Pflugerville is a little closer in to Austin, it still has some rural areas with a cute, older downtown. It has a bike trail through the town, and there is a little lake at the very edge of the incorporated areas. Sadly, it is getting new development to make it look just like Round Rock, but people keep goats in their backyards so it isn't Dallas yet.
I'd second Pflugerville - I was thinking that even before I read your comment. Pflugerville is much nicer, much less political, and has a sense of fun. Also one of the best vets in the area, Rick Lusk at White Rock Vet Clinic.
This is one of the top 5 most helpful lj comments I've ever received! Thanks. We want a place where we can have chickens and maybe goats or possibly (if I fall off the deep end in a delicious way) emus.
