Noticing the year: 04/21/08

Besides the violets, I also noticed that most of the trees have some new greenery--either leaves, buds, or flowers. For the first time this year the green on the ground is definitely more grass than moss. And I saw my first butterflies of the year: a pair of mourning cloaks.

On Friday I actually took a few pictures of a mourning cloak and a bunch of flies drinking sap flowing from what looked like a rodent bite to a maple branch.

It's extremely spring-like here this morning too. I got my first wiff of cut grass - mmmm! Irish people get insane this time of year. We've been starved of light for so long.
