Mini Review of "BlackAdder the Third"
Jun. 28th, 2005 02:10 pmYou don't have to know anything about the Regency period in British history to enjoy Blackadder the Third, but one imagines that it wouldn't hurt. One of great things about British comedy is that they so often aim above the average American's head. I'll admit it, I missed a few jokes, but that could have been helped with some subtitles. The ones I caught were pretty damn funny, but some insult type jokes suffered from their great length, allowing the viewer to imagine the punchline long before it happens. For someone (like myself) not generally familiar with The Blackadder series, it was interesting to see Rowan Atkinson acting intelligent (and even ending up the winner!) and to see TV's House (Hugh Laurie) acting like a complete boob.
