I have no idea if Ann and Nancy Wilson actually wrote this, or what publication it actually appeared in.  I found it on the[livejournal.com profile] damnportlanders  community.  I desperately hope it's real, and that they donate the maximum amount permitted by law to the Obama campaign.  I love this song and was horrified that the Republicans had appropriated it.  Why can't they stick with Van Hagar?

no, it was on snopes. they did object to the republicans using their music but they didn't write this letter.

Ah man, too bad. And I was just about to go dig out my old Heart LP's.

Yup, the letter was debunked, but to the best of my knowledge, Helen Philpot (http://margaretandhelen.wordpress.com/2008/10/03/bitch-there-i-said-it/) is for real.

Wow! She's great!

You can comment all you want on who won and who didn’t. I haven’t got a clue. But here is what my heart is telling me. I am 82 years old (83 in December). It’s time to hand the reigns over to the next generation and hope that we did a good job raising them.

To Senator McCain I say, with love in my heart, sit down and shut up. You’re beginning to look like an ass and your answers sound like a cross between Barnie Fife and Floyd the Barber. And no matter how many times you start a sentence with “My friends” if you end it with a bunch of stuff that really doesn’t make sense… well eventually someone like me is going to call “bullshit”.

Honestly I think McCain would have a lot more credibility if he used this song.

A first for me, although I've certainly heard the term bandied about enough lately.

If you're using firefox and have the greasemonkey add-on, you can apply the YouTube Title Adder script, which will always show the name of the video next to whatever words were used to link it.

Never be rickroll'd again (unless you're into that sort of thing; not that there's anything wrong with that ;])

Ahaha! That really look like it was published by The Stranger, a Seattle alternative weekly paper. Every week they run the first installment of a fictitious new column, and I recognize the green star. :)

It may also show up in Portland's alternative weekly, the Mercury, which is published by the same people.
