The man is WIPING UP his own ICE CREAM SPILL

Have I gone completely crazy, or does this simple image say as much as I think it does?
I just want to go into a coma and wake up 2 weeks from now with Obama elected.  I'm so worried that the Republicans are going to steal it or worse (as my dad fears) Americans don't have the stones to elect a black president.

From this amazing set of photographs.

In case anyone thinks I'm struck by hero worship, I have to remind you: I wasn't for Obama originally.  I support him primarily because he's not a Republican.  But I've come around to believe he's a great man, and that great things will happen to this country if he's elected.  For one thing, black people will be able to realistically aspire to become president.  That's hope.  That's progress.   The fact that anyone supports McCain after his weird behavior during the first days of the financial crisis, his unconscionable nomination of Palin for running mate, and his incredibly nast campaign of lie after lie after lie scares the hell out of me.  Isn't everyone in America as sick of Republicans running the show as I am?  Secret torture prisons?  Historic financial bungling?  Groundless and aimless wars?  The greatest disparity between rich and poor since slavery?  Do these "anti-socialist" lynch mob members going to McCain rallies actually have more than a quarter million dollars of income?  Do we really want the rest of the world to continue to view us as 300 million heavily armed retards?

Ugh, I've got to stop posting before breakfast.

Stop reading my brain. Well, I don't want to miss the long weekend, but otherwise - nail on the head.

I love the picture of his shoes with the worn down soles. It paints a sharp constrast to the 150K wardrobe of Palin. Who's the elitist now?

I've been noticing all the photos of Obama carrying his own luggage on and off his plane and thinking how humble that makes him look. Like there aren't a dozen lackeys on that plane who would be glad to carry luggage for him, but he does it himself.

Seriously. With 12 days to go I think I need blood pressure medication. Of course, of the 45 people in my group, my closest coworker is the ONE vehement Republican. Figures.

Geez! What a slob. I bet Maverick McCain doesn't spill HIS ice cream all over the counter. The only reason Obama carries his own luggage is so he doesn't have to tip, and the worn soles of his shoes are from grinding the little people into the dust. Clearly terrorists have taken over your brain.

(Seriously, I'll be making phone calls for Obama this Sunday. Have you seen this McCain-Obama dance-off video? http://tinyurl.com/5lx5pl)

I really don't want to think about him not being president. Too much unpleasantness for one lifetime.

I know the worst I'm likely to think is 299 999 000 retards and 1000 people trying to get through life without frightening the morons into a fiery cataclysm.

No, you're not crazy. That small gesture shows that he takes responsibilty for his actions and their consequences automatically, and does what he can to fix things. It's not a thought-out plan, just a reaction - I do the same if I spill something on a counter or whatever. I was originally for Hillary, but yes, I feel that Obama is a great man, and we haven't had that in the White House for a long, long time.

You speak my mind. Did y'all read Chris Buckley's endorsement of Obama? Even that dyed-in-the-wool Republican admits that Obama has a "first-class temperament and a first-class intellect" and that he is "what the historical moment seems to be calling for".

I too fear that American voters will do the wrong thing AGAIN, but there is reason for optimism.

My greatest fear is sabotage of the voters and the election process. A lot of new voters registered this year, and now I'm hearing the Republicans are insisting their registrations are not valid. Haven't heard any more about that lately, but it startled me about a week ago. And then there's the classic "I'm sorry, but this is the wrong form of ID, you're in the wrong place" etc at polling stations. I'm an anxiety-ridden person normally & this election makes me feel like I've got half a million volts going through me. If election day doesn't come soon, I'll be nothing but dust and air.

this whole thing makes me so anxious in an 'obi-wan, you are my only hope' kind of way. i don't know if it's because the stakes really are that high, or if i'm just channeling my anxiety about various things into this one outlet.

actually...

there's a 10 dollar bill under that napkin that he found, but went "oh noes, there's a camera on me, quick, think!"

hahahah. okay.

yah, that he does his own wiping up and carrying and generally acts like a decent human being says something. i just don't agree on all his ... thoughts on some matters. he must agree with me 100%! ;)

we have guys at work that will RUN like pigs to a trough for the free food, almost pushing people out of the way, think nothing of accidentally dumping a tray of food on the ground and simply walking away from it - "oh, someone will pick it up" (by someone, he means a janitor in 2-3 hours or us...), then they take off with a plate piled high with foods (got mine!). sheesh!

well, here in Canada we found out voting does F***all to change the gov.

I hope you have better luck...

by the way..."Heavily Armed Retards" is rude to people who are intellectualy challenged, plus, the guy i worked with at the lumber yard would not use a weapon even if he had one. He was such a great person...

i would say the rest of the world views the United States as a bunch of Heavily Armed Psycopaths on a bad day, on a good day, Heavily Armed Really Not Very Nice Guys.

I wanted H.C. I think Humans need to take the testosterone out of ruling the world. other wise, why not a black guy? Don't the blacks always get stuck with mopping up crap for a living in America?

All signs point to Obama being a genuinely good guy, on a personal level. That doesn't necessarily mean he'll be a great president, but it's encouraging.

nice. But I would point out that Obama actually CAN dance (http://www.google.com/url?sa=U&start=1&q=http://www.youtube.com/watch%3Fv%3DRsWpvkLCvu4&usg=AFQjCNEJAdCdio22puYyzwTs4OB3gCW3lQ).

I liked a comment I read on somebody's essay at Intrepid Media yesterday:

"And I think a lot of us agree that before McCain sold out to get the nomination, he commanded a lot more respect than he does now. I think the reason the Republicans often win these national elections is because their focus is often on winning, not on governing. I think McCain made every single decision in this campaign based on what he thought would get him the most votes, not on what would be best for the country." - Adam Kraemer

Have you seen the new Terrorist mailing that McCain put out? Sickening. The first time he ran for President, I would've voted for him over Bush, but this time? I don't know what's more frightening - him, or his VP choice.

Not to worry

I tell everyone this -- my oldest son wrote a paper in 2005 about Obama being the next president. He worked security when Obama spoke here to 20,000+ people (basically the entire city). I am a registered Republican, so's my husband, and we have had an Obama sign in our lawn since, um....May? As long as everyone goes and votes, we are going to Turn The Corner. (And Sen. John Murtha was correct. Western PA is full of racists. Quiet, don't-realize-it, racists. )

You know the security code you type in to post a comment? The one below my message box right now says "uncle frank"......

I've been worried since this election cycle began that your mom has been reading my journal and getting horrified/insulted.

I'm thrilled to death that you and yours are voting Obama (and even having the yard sign!!)

Much love to you and the family, Dotty and Scotty and all the others I haven't seen in so long!

I'll tell Uncle Frank about this post tonight, he'll get a kick out of it!

You share my hopes and my fears. Barack is the first presidential candidate in my lifetime that I really, really wanted to win, on HIS merits, not because I felt he was just the lesser of two evils. I don't think he's the second coming, but I do think he's the best chance we've had for real change since...well since Kennedy, really. (And I have mixed feelings about Kennedy.)

Mom does not have the capacity for insult. Horror, yes, but that would only be if you were advocating, say, a life without chocolate or something. Mom/Dad/probably David are voting McPain, more power to 'em. We do not, as a family unit, discuss politics. Peter's regis. as an independant, but in PA that means you can't vote in primaries and that's my favorite part. Ben (my son) was reg. Repub but switched to Demo. Makes a momma proud!
