MATEP exhaust stack

This is the view across the Muddy River from where I live. This striking tower is fascinating to me, and I've never really known what it is. It seems to be the "exhaust stack" (as opposed to smokestack) for a massive generator for the Longwood Medical area hospitals. Some documents I found refer to it as MATEP, or Medical Area Total Energy Plant. In any case, as weird and scary and Mordor/sci-fi as it looks, I find it to be kind of comforting, because if I can see it, I'm withing walking distance of home. Here are some more twilight and night pictures from my neighborhood:

The town line between Brookline and Boston is right about where the headlights are.

I like this block and its enclosed paved courtyard (full of Ailanthus saplings, naturally).

Another Doorway of Brookline for your collection.
My mild obsession with a tower landmark is nothing compared to my brother
