Thanksgiving Day 2008, Salem Massachusetts.

I'll remember this Thanksgiving for a long time, since I was given such a big thing to be thankful for: my father's life. Here's a whole mess of pictures that have nothing to do with anything, except they were taken more or less at the same place (Salem) on the same day (Thanksgiving). YES there are cute doggy pictures (JIM!).

Not the Salem landscape you usually see.

Zero Essex Street.

It's the Bim!

Newly legalized booze? Sure I'll have some!

Our lovely host (for yes, my second Thanksgiving dinner of the day) makes a crazy face.

But not as crazy as Jim and Milo!

God, I haven't seen Absinthe since that night I drank about 8 shots of it in Spain ("Gimme one of each kind!"; bar had a wide selection). Woke up in an alley without my shoes or boxers. I did have a pocket full of various bar accoutrements: ashtrays, rail mats, coasters. . .the women's room sign. It was a weird, weird night.

And now you tell me it's legal HERE?!?!

Yep, all 110 proof of it!

Did you like it? I can't stand licorice and was dismayed by the taste. I gave my bottle to Mark's parents.

I'm not a big fan of licorice flavored things either, but diluted and sweetened it was quite palatable. I'm glad I didn't like it TOO much--it'll knock you on your ass.

Do you know if what you had was made from lesser wormwood? I read on my bottle that it used to be made from another type of wormwood, but changing to lesser, made it legal...something weird like that...
