Someone suggested that I post reminders of my 365 Urban Species project, for those who may have missed it the first time around. I'm not sure about that yet, but I'm happy to post reminders as I re-encounter those species this year. Here's number 77: the sap bucket beetle.

I would have thought it was a firefly.

I heard about something on campus today that reminded me of you. metroblossom.com is a sort of art project/zine thing (online only, I think, because it includes music and such, but I thought there was some physical incarnation too) dealing with the interaction of people and nature, specifically in urban settings--the founder is a grad student here at UChicago, and looking at his photos of weeds growing through cracked tile floors, I thought of your photographs and Urban Species project. I thought I'd pass it along since it's a cool thing in general, but they're also looking for contributors.

First thing I thought when I saw it was "Firefly". That's really amazing to see it so early. I guess you had better start tapping those trees, mister!

The Urban Species series was great and we look at it sometimes. I still think it would make a neat blog book.
