i have absolutely loved watching the seasons change through your pictures.... i don't get four real seasons out here near san francisco... you should put together a slideshow when the year is through....

Still there, slowly rusting away. No one cleans this river.

That's not just a can in the river, it's a large 55-gallon drum, right? If you know exactly what town/city this is located in, the health dept. and/or DPW might be amenable to yanking it out of there ... esp. if you specify that it's a drum, and tell them exactly where it's lodged.

Interestingly enough, the river forms the border between two towns (one town and one city).

Barrel update: Both towns' parks departments are aware of the barrel, but neither has an easy way to get it out. One enthusiastic ranger I spoke with is going to give it a go, but we agreed that it's probably full of sediment. There is however, a major restoration plan underway, for the whole river.
