My best picture of the b-c n-h yet, bumped by stupid ducks. Now I know the secret: I have to take the picture when the sun isn't out. As Alexis says, the heron will be there again. The ducklings shot was pretty special.

It's dead bird season. Besides this robin, we passed a catbird and two house sparrows.

They say dogs and their owners start to look alike after a while.

Hey, I'm not the only one who takes dead-bird pictures! :)

Both lead pics are great :-)

Why are there so many dead birds right now? And animals, too? Found a second dead cat 2 days ago--both in gutters, last one was months ago but I am still not looking forward to burying this one either, and it looks as if it will be unclaimed as that one was. Couple of smushed squirrels and a crow just in the last 3 days. wtf?

I think it's a normal spring thing. Increased activity both human and animal means they come into conflict more often: more cats and squirrels hit by cars, more birds in competition for resources not yet at their summer fullness.
