Noticing the year, mid June 2009

It's been a weird spring so far. We had a handful of genuinely hot days (80 degrees +) in April and May (including the day before my mushroom class, when it caused a problem for me), but June has been almost uniformly cold and gray. By "cold" I mean 50s and low 60s, and by "uniformly" I mean probably half the time or more. Everyone kind of expects June to be the beginning of Summer weather.

My dad is thankful for this unusual pattern, because he teaches in a public school building with no air conditioning. The kids aren't staring longingly out the window at a day better spent at the beach, and he isn't sweltering in his shirt and tie.

Recently it's been ten degrees hotter than it's supposed to be in June, here. We've already hit 100 a few times this week.

i don't have kids in school any more but i remember how ridiculous it was to expect them to even be able to lift their heads in the sweltering heat of the the classroom never mind learn anything!

This is like the Junes I remember when I was a kid. I don't mind and my garden seens okay with it too but my allergies are really bad.

Your dad wears a suit and tie to teach?!! Wow.
