i went to college there. it has a much more consistant climate, for one. i rarely actually wore long pants. there is no smog ever. it is beautiful. it has a great zoo. it is close enough to LA for a day trip or the theater. it has an airport. it has a major university and four or five smaller ones. it never gets too hot. the schools are good. the beach. lots of great hiking trails in the mountains close by. wine country is very close. the shuttle sometimes lands just north of there and you can go watch. etc....
