I thought at first they were snails!

I like this a lot. Is this just with the lens that came with your camera? The depth of field is so nice.

Nope, this is with the zoom I bought more recently.

Nice!
I think this is a better acorn year than last year.

I would say so.

this is what my yard is starting to look like. Cept here its a much more audible experience. Cant stand outside long without hearing at least one dive-bomb something.

Walking along the river you need a hard hat these days. It's fun when they hit the water.

This is just gorgeous.

Thank you!

do you harvest the acorns?

[identity profile] urbpan.livejournal.com 2009-09-17 04:18 pm (UTC)(link)
No. They're almost all from red oaks, which would make them undesirable for human consumption.

[identity profile] ndozo.livejournal.com 2009-09-17 05:13 pm (UTC)(link)
Undesirable meaning bad-tasting or toxic?

[identity profile] urbpan.livejournal.com 2009-09-17 05:21 pm (UTC)(link)
A higher level of tannins, making them more bitter than white oak acorns.

Beautiful!

It kinda makes me think of a set for a Jim Henson film; the moss and acorns are the foreground in front of the hole in the floor, and the pond the backdrop... ready for adventure!
