Is it humid in here, or is that just Vanuatu disappearing under the waves?

Is the United States the only nation where large numbers of literate people don't believe in man-made climate change? I believe in man-made disbelief of science, which is almost as scary as large-scale famine caused by droughts and floods. I did meet a nice Australian lady on my trip to Greenland who had her doubts about man-made climate change, and I wondered if the fact that her husband worked for the mining industry had informed those doubts.

If we are the only country that has a large influential population of climate change deniers, I think a little national shame is in order.

Speaking of which, human rights watchers may raise an eyebrow at Denmark, which has passed laws essentially allowing the arrest and detention of protesters who LOOK like they might start trouble.

Of those who care about the issue in Ireland the vast majority believe in man made climate change. You'd get an occasional panelist on a radio show who says they don't beleive in it, but I often suspect them of being in the "disagree for hte sake of disagreeing" camp. There is a large proportion of people here though who simply don't care about or think about it. Which is strange considering the country is going through the worst flooding ever recorded!

I was amused at the "outrage" of our politicians at the "detention of dissidents without charges" (in China)when they voted to allow the US to do the same thing.

It's really depressing me to hear about polls in the US where 50% of people don't believe in global warming. But then again, there are similar polls here showing something above 50% believe everything in the Bible is true. So what the hell.

This person who is currently debating me on my FB went to college with me and was a chemistry major. Even a supposedly intelligent person with knowledge of science who happens to have "libertarian" political views can be completely blinded by blowhards screaming that the "hockey stick graph" is a hoax, ergo, no climate change. sigh.....

There are plenty of people in the UK who disagree that climate change is happening and is man-made. Of course, they tend not to be scientists and a lot of them tend to be older people who are quite happy driving their cars everywhere thank you. The East Anglia Uni data scandal hasn't helped.

I work in an energy related organisation with people who read climate change reports, and some of them don't even believe in it. They go on about how Britain used to have an ice age and was also really hot at one point, and weather goes in cycles. It's depressing.

I have a friend who is a denier. He is very vocal about it. He's also very vocal about seceding and starting his own country.

The weird thing is, he lives very sustainably (apart from having 3 kids). They grow their own veggies as much as possible and intend to get chickens and goats and do all that stuff.

Your country isn't the only one.

I'm afraid I blame the US for the prevalence of Climate Change denialism in other western countries. US politicians, corporations, and churches both present an example that is hard to ignore, and exert considerable pressure on other countries. Rather the way the US has exported and encouraged Xian fundamentalism.
