It may surprise you to learn that I'm not a huge fan of cold weather. Even so, I love ice. I love seeing it on man-made and natural objects, I love sliding on it, I love standing on it, I even like riding my bike on it. (I don't like driving on it, or slipping and falling on it.)

That bike ride on the Charles looks so incredibly fun, but seems so stupid and dangerous. I wish I was reckless like that. Life might be shorter, but would certainly be more interesting. That wasn't you, was it?

No, I wasn't involved in that ride. I've ridden on smaller frozen bodies of water, though.

The ride on the Charles was sweeeeet. Almost makes me miss winter.

And I learned a new trick this year, after spending 20ish years in the frozen wastes of CT and finally escaping to tropical paradise: making an "Ice Garden."

Apparently, when you know it's freezing, you take a hose or watering can and dribble water over things in your yard (lawn chairs, tomato baskets, rakes, etc) and you keep layering it on. You get some really cool ice formations.

I love ice too. One winter years ago I saw a pair of eyeglasses sitting on a metal fence, frozen and covered with ice. I didn't have a camera then, but I surely would have photographed that.
