Feeding the waterfowl in the park, though frowned upon by environmental groups and land managers, may be the only "contact" with nature some urban people have.

I have finally managed to convince my husband that taking our kid to the Pond to feed the ducks (and worse, geese) is not good. They are supposed to be wild creatures and able to fend for themselves! Gah!

I used to do this, and feel kind of bad, because I am supposed to be educated about biology. In my defense, there wasn't a whole lot to do in Roseburg, OR for fun...
