I feel like I'm getting behind on real blogging, partly because it's spring and everything is happening at once, and partly because I'm on twitter and facebook for more of my messing-about-on-the-internet part of the day. A quick update:

1. MOVING--we aren't, not for at least one year. It's relaxing to have verified this, so I don't have to think about it.

2. URBAN NATURE WALK--I'm hosting one this Saturday, meeting at 9:30 a.m., at the zebra entrance of the Franklin Park Zoo. Don't know when I'll have the time to do another one. Don't really know when I'll have the time to properly research THIS one, but it will help to get the books out of the back of my car and up into the house where I can read them.

3. WORK STUFF--lots of it going on, I'm digging it mostly.

4. TRAVEL--I appear to be leaving the US at least 3 times before the fall this year. Whoa.

5. MUSHROOM STUFF--went to a lecture on monday and learned enough for a huge interesting lj post that I don't have time to post right now.

6. ROCK BAND--I'm getting really good at pretending to play drums. What'll that get me?

The fake drums are a lot closer to real drums than the fake guitars; you might actually be learning a transferable skill!

I'd like to think so! It would be nice to get a real drum set some day when my neighbors aren't so close.

Hopefully you are better at the little plastic drums than me - I've been stuck at medium for two years. :(

Playing most songs on expert. A few of the hardest ones are still impossible, but I'm getting there!

For the walk, can you just show up? Any excuse not to have to do laundry.... :-)

Absolutely. It's good to know who's coming, at least for an estimate, and I recommend joining the yahoo group, where you can find my phone number in case you need to call for directions/lateness.

I wish I was close enough to go on one of these walks.

Mushrooms grown on mulch made from bay and eucalyptus leaves experience changes in flavour and, to a small degree, in colour, while those grown on bay leaves are better in quality.

I would totally go on your nature walk. Most people probably don't know near enough to know that you didn't know what a weed that was growing in the sidewalk crack was called. You can just walk by it and they'd never notice that you didn't point it out.

That's my favorite stuff! If you come to boston some time I'll plan one around your visit. :)

I think you'll have more fun with the Yamaha DD55; Mike has one, ITS AWESOME. It was pretty cheap, too! It sounds good, has loads of drum sounds, or you can add your own, you can play out-loud, or on headphones(excellent for drumming while NOT in a proper practice space). It even fits inside the large Timbuktu courier bag! If you can get the custom stand with it, do;)

Looks like the DD55 has been discontinued, but the DD65 looks pretty nice! http://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/DD65/

And SOMEbody has a birthday/10 years in zookeeping party coming up in August...

No! Not "anonymous", ME! Melissa D.! Apparently LiveJournal's not going to acknowledge the existence of any non-LJ online personas that are me:(

LJ doesn't acknowledge anyone who isn't signed up (although if you have a blogspot/wordpress account I think there's crossover logins).
