*Alarm goes off*
Mushroom walk leader (casually) "I'm just going to take a picture of the path behind us..."

Brightly sunny, breezy, bone dry. Beautiful day for a nature walk, terrible day to find mushrooms. Fortunately one of the students dug under a fallen branch and found a cluster of coprinoid parasol-like mushrooms. This one has become plane in cross-section.

Drumlin Farm's crop fields are stunningly verdant and geometric.

I thought OUR tomato plants had dropped a lot of orphans--look at all the unclaimed fruit!
My friend Jenn and her husband Chris came on the walk and Chris turned out to have a good eye for finding any mushrooms. I was sure we would find zero mycorrhizal mushrooms but he pointed us to this gorgeous little purple Russula.

Right at the end, my friend Jenn found us this group of wolf's milk slime mold!

You certainly can't complain about the scenery.
