You could have avoided all that chemical poison if you'd just joined Scientology.

(About 25 years ago, I was walking with a friend of mine, a prominent member of Boston's leather / bear community, when a Scientologist popped out and asked if either of us would like a free personality test. My friend got into the unfortunate twit's face and snarled, "Why? What's wrong with my personality?")

When that happened to me (about 25 years ago as well) I said, "Yes! Yes I would like a personality test!"

What a strange new wonderland Boston was, that friendly strangers on Newbury street would offer such a fun thing!

Four hours later I was well on my way to never trusting a stranger again.

More like 30 years ago in my case. It was a shit test and I told them so, and they told me I was a maladjusted asshole, and we agreed to differ.

I'm on the same stuff. You might be in for some weirdness for the first couple of days/weeks (or not) but I've found it to be the most helpful option. Do be careful and have someone to watch over you when the first round of motivation hits - that's the danger point at which still-depressed people get off their arses and actually *do* something about the suicidal thoughts.

It's not a quick acting drug though, which is why you have to stick with it for a least a couple of weeks to give it a chance to worth through your system and do what it's come to do. If you have to drop a dose of stop, step down slowly and carefully over time. Sudden changes can be very dangerous.

So, getting in and coming out can be tricky, but once you've found the right does and schedule for you, it can be really great stuff.

Good luck!

I'm taking Zoloft. It helps. Otherwise I found myself so stressed -- by other people/family I HAD to deal with -- that I was pulling my hair and scraping my fingers against my cheeks. I started to understand why teens who feel trapped cut. I'm mature enough to know This Isn't Good! And called my pcp right away for some chemical help.

I hope you find some peace in Prozac. :-)

I take Zoloft. My favorite was Cymbalta.

ditto what others have said - the first couple weeks can be difficult, so make sure someone keeps a close watch on you.
